The game is free and is financed by ads: an optional "watch an ad for shards" offer on the main menu, and occasional full-screen ads between trials (never during one). They are delivered by Google AdMob, a service of Google Ireland Limited, Gordon House, Barrow Street, Dublin 4, Ireland (for users outside Europe: Google LLC, USA).
To deliver, measure and protect these ads, Google's software inside the game processes:
| Data | What for |
|---|---|
| Advertising ID of your device (on iPhone and iPad: Apple's advertising identifier, only if you allow tracking, see below) | Choosing ads, limiting how often you see the same ad, measuring ad performance |
| IP address (also gives an approximate location, e.g. country or city) | Delivering ads, choosing ads for your region, detecting fraud |
| Device information (model, operating system version, language, screen size, network type) | Showing ads in a format that fits your device |
| Ad interactions and app activity (which ads were shown, tapped or finished; diagnostic data) | Measuring ads, paying out ad revenue, detecting fraud and errors |
| Your consent choices | Remembering what you agreed to |
Your choice. If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland, the game asks you on first launch, in a dialog provided by Google, whether you consent to the use of your data for personalised advertising. The legal basis is your consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR). You can change or withdraw it at any time through the Ad choices button on the game's main menu (it appears where the law requires it). Without consent you may still see ads, but they are not based on a profile of you.
On iPhone and iPad, after Google's dialog, iOS asks whether the game may track your activity across other companies' apps and websites (Apple's App Tracking Transparency). Only if you allow it does Google receive your device's advertising identifier (IDFA); if you do not, you still see ads, but without that identifier. The game plays the same either way. You can change your answer at any time in Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking.
Independently of the game, you can reset or delete your advertising ID in your Android settings (Settings → Google → Ads, or Settings → Privacy → Ads), or stop all apps from asking to track you on iPhone and iPad (Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking).

Once the Daily Trial is unlocked, the game can remind you in the evening that today's Daily Trial is still waiting, for a few days ahead; a day you have already played gets no reminder. Your device asks you once whether the game may send notifications (after your first Daily Trial). The reminders are scheduled by the game on your own device: no data leaves your device for them, and you can switch them off at any time in your device's settings.
Your progress (the trials you cleared), your shards and your settings are stored in the game's private storage on your device. They are deleted when you uninstall the game (on Android also when you clear its data in the settings).
The game is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from them. If you believe a child has provided personal data through the game, please contact us (section 1).
Google may process data on servers outside the European Economic Area, including in the USA. Google relies on the EU–U.S. Data Privacy Framework and on standard contractual clauses approved by the European Commission.
We ourselves do not store any personal data about you. Data processed by Google is kept according to Google's policies linked above. The app stores (Google Play and Apple's App Store) show every developer anonymous, aggregated statistics such as install numbers and, where you allowed it in your device's settings, crash reports; they collect that data under their own privacy policies.
Under the GDPR and similar laws you have the right to access, correct, delete or restrict the processing of your personal data, to receive it in a portable format, to object to processing, and to withdraw a consent at any time with effect for the future. You also have the right to complain to a data protection authority, in particular in the country where you live.
Because the game has no account and we do not receive your data, we usually cannot identify you in the data held by Google. You can use the controls described in section 3, contact Google through the links above, or write to us (section 1) and we will help.
When the game changes, for example when a new feature processes data, this policy is updated and the effective date at the top changes. The current version is always available on this page.
